Terms of use
Last updated 18 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the SalamGuide app or this website. They're written to be read, so they're short.
About these terms
SalamGuide ("we", "us") provides the SalamGuide app and salamguide.org. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
The service
SalamGuide helps you find prayer times, the Qibla direction, masjids, events, halal food and Muslim-owned businesses in the UK. The app is free. You can use most of it without an account; an account lets you save places and RSVP to events across devices.
Prayer times and listings
Prayer times are calculated from your location and the calculation method you choose, and may differ by a few minutes from your local masjid's timetable. Where it matters, follow your masjid. The Qibla compass depends on your phone's sensors and can be affected by magnets and metal nearby.
Masjid, event and business details come from public sources, the places themselves and our users. We work to keep them right, but opening hours, facilities and events change. Please check important details with the place before you travel.
Halal information
SalamGuide is not a halal certification body. A listing in Halal Eats means the place describes itself as halal or has been reported as halal; it isn't a guarantee. If certification matters to you, ask the business which body certifies it.
Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your password private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- You must be at least 13 to create an account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app. See Delete your account.
What you submit
When you suggest a place or send us a correction, you confirm it's accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. You let us use, edit and publish it in SalamGuide, free of charge. We may decline or remove submissions at our discretion.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- submit false, misleading, offensive or unlawful content, or content that targets a person or community;
- try to access accounts or data that aren't yours, or interfere with how the service runs;
- scrape, copy or resell our listings or data in bulk, or use automated tools against our servers;
- use SalamGuide to break the law.
We may suspend or close accounts that do these things.
Other services
Directions, phone calls, websites and delivery links open other apps and services. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them; their own terms apply.
Our content
The SalamGuide name, logo, app design and our compiled listings belong to us. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use. Hadith and other religious texts shown in the app remain the work of their sources and are attributed in the app.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep SalamGuide running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app.
Our responsibility to you
We provide SalamGuide with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Because the app is free and relies on information that can change, we're not responsible for losses caused by acting on a listing or prayer time without checking it where it mattered, or for losses that weren't foreseeable. We're not responsible for the products, food or services of places listed in the app.
Ending your use
You can stop using SalamGuide and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring a claim in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please contact us first and we'll try to sort it out.
